Since the phenolic hydroxyl groups are blocked, vitamin e oil tocopherol is used as a substitute for tocopherol itself, providing a less acidic product with a longer shelf life. vitamin e oil tocopherol thought that once absorbed into the skin, acetate is slowly hydrolyzed to regenerate tocopherols, providing sun protection.
